Traditional Thai massage is very different than typical massage techniques in America. First it uses no oils or lotions and the recipient remains clothed. The therapist and the recipient remain in constant contact, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked. The recipient should wear loose , comfortalble clothing and during the session will lie on a mat on the floor. The therapist will position the recipient in a variety of yoga-like positions during the course of the massage, that is also comibined with deep static and rhythmic pressures. This may include pulling fingers, toes, ears, cracking knuckles, walking on the recipient's back, and moving the recipients's body into many different positions. There is a standard protocol and rhythm to the massage, which the therapist ill adjust to the fit the recipient.
Cupping was developed by ancient Asian healers. Early Chinese historical records show that cupping therapy was used as early as 300 BC. Now after thousands of years of development and refinement it has been accepted around the world. Since cupping therapy is used for widely varied problems, its effectiivenesse is good, its cost is low and its characteristics of easy operation and safety (while having no side effects) it has been called "A new natural therapy for the 21st century." In our studio we only use modern vacuum pump systems to create the negative pressure safely inside the cups. This eliminates the major complication seen in the past where burns were experienced by a few patients when the negative pressure was created using a flame; this makes for a worry free session for our patients. We can also combine magnet therapy with certain types of cupping as well.
